Tim Mickleburgh

Tim Mickleburgh is a multi national award-winning accounting and finance professional, widely regarded as one of the profession's top young talents.

 

A First Class BSc Accounting alumnus of the University of Manchester class of 2023, Tim is currently gaining three years of professional experience while completing his CIMA exams to become a Chartered Global Management Accountant by August 2026. The recipient of three national accolades—PQ Magazine's Accountancy Graduate of the Year 2024, CIMA UK & Ireland's Student of the Year 2025, and PQ Magazine's PQ of the Year 2026—Tim has been recognised for his exceptional drive, commitment, and enthusiasm for accounting and finance, and leadership and impact in the profession.

 

Coming from a low-income household where no one pursued further education or a corporate career, Tim shares his social mobility journey to bring attention to the 'class ceiling' that persists in accounting and finance. The author of PQ Magazine's 2025 social mobility series, "A Class Apart", Tim raises awareness of the underrepresentation of accountants from lower socio-economic backgrounds and the barriers to entry, progression and inclusion while calling for the UK government to mandate corporate reporting about workforce socio-economic diversity. To mark Social Mobility Day 2026, Tim gave a powerful speech on behalf of CIMA UK & Ireland, garnering more than half a million views.
